It becomes clear that each character with a familt desires to protect them from the unknown assailants trying to eliminate all who could revail their secrets! While there are many moments of apparent despair, the heroine continues to escape death, her young daughter's safety always in her mind.
In every instance, Baldacci refrains from using offensive language or descriptions. The action is well-written, and the relationships between characters runs the gamut from doubt and anger to trust and compassion. We're talking about the basic nature of man, here: the sin of Greed. Total Control uses new characters, perhaps because it is not a government/political espionage theme. I've enjoyed the novels Baldacci writes, particularly when the characters have a history that he takes into subsequent stories. New characters with expected Baldacci suspense!
